New year social media reform

In a conversation I had earlier with my cousin I realized that starting this new year off with a clean slate is important....she told me that she plans to delete her main twitter page and use a more grown up page, where she can talk to people who have similar interest and viewpoints as her.
It took me a minute to understand where she was going with it but I am always constantly reminded of the dumb shit I run across on twitter. Yall will get on twitter and tweet some of the most ignorant shit I have ever heard..... Lets stop broadcasting our shortcomings people and our lack of depth....and if you fail to understand what my previous statement means then this applies to you more than likely.
I am pleased with my friends/followers on my social media guilty pleasures... the majority of the time, I have some great people that I follow that are insightful and hilarious which pretty much sums me up....and yet we get the few who slip in there with their ignorance..those are usually the ones who deceive us into thinking they are about something but really are not....the same people that complain about you talking about real shit or retweeting inspirational or encouraging things. I remember during the election seeing people I followed complain about people talking about the election....that is a deal breaker and grounds for an unfollow... If you know me you know I stay politically aware and up to date with what is going so if you don't care that's fine but don't say ignorant things to emphasize how much you don't care...it just makes you look dumb as a bag of bricks.
Anyways to keep this short lets move into the new year with a new mindset about or social media post and the kind of energy we are putting out in the atmosphere....lets still laugh about dumb stuff but lets also talk about important stuff...no one cares about the weed you smoking or the girl you screwing or better yet for that matter how you like to have sex....better yet lets retire throwback Thursdays, titty Tuesday, twitter after dark, and these damn number/rating games....SHATTT!

Racism Still Alive... thriving on Social Networks

In the midst of all that is going on in this country right now I felt it necessary to write this post.
I am appalled at the level of ignorance in America. I feel that today even in spite of us overcoming and achieving the top most prestigious honor of having a black President, there is still this racism lingering around putting a bad taste in everyone's mouth!

I look back in history at all the things that people had to endure to get us rights, equality, and even just for "black" to be socially acceptable. And now even in 2012 we still are being attacked with racial undertones.
Social media has given a lot of people a voice that they truly don't have otherwise. They get to hide behind twitter or facebook and say shit that they normally wouldn't dare say out loud. LOOK, this is it... let me tell you first hand that your social media site (whether it be twitter, facebook, you tube, whatever) is suppose to be a direct reflection of you, stop saying stuff for show!! I tweet things that give you insight into who I am as a person, no need to lie for a RT or more followers. I'M SO FUCKING TIRED OF PEOPLE PERPETRATING ON TWITTER ACTING LIKE SOMETHING THEY AREN'T.  OR BETTER YET.. THEY HAVE BEEN LIVING THEIR LIVES AS A LIE AND NOW THEY HAVE THE "COURAGE" TO BE THEM VIA INTERNET! HAVE A DAMN SEAT PLEASE!!!!
 Yes it is your page and you should have the right to state your opinion on your page. But some folks have gone too damn far!

One of my favorite things to watch on Youtube is a web series called The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl! It is a great show funny, witty, and I can relate to it! But to make a long story short she won a Shorty Award for it! (YAYYY she deserves it) However, the backlash from her winning that Shorty Award was crazy, people on twitter talking about "I can't believe I lost to a niggerette", and "of course the black one wins"! WTF excuse me! Read her response here!!!

Another example, I was having a conversation last night with one of my male friends and we had this same discussion about how people get this "courage" to say ignorant shit via twitter. He was telling me about The Hunger Games (and no I haven't read the book or seen the movie) but he was telling me how the book described some of the main characters and how they came out in the actual motion picture. He talked about how people were so outraged that one of the main characters was portrayed in the movie by a black girl! He told me that in the book though she was described as having a darker complexion, so he couldn't understand why so many people were so bothered by the casting choice! I take it that this girls character was a major one in the story and I was told that she had a very powerful, moving death scene that made a lot of people very emotional when reading the book. But the same people who were balling in tears reading the book, went to the movies and saw she was black & had the audacity to say "oh she's black oh I don't care anymore about her dying" and "damn why did they make her character black"! ARE U KIDDING ME!  Oh so because she doesn't look like you her death is of no importance or loses value! This is the problem... This is why there is a dead 17 year old in Florida in a coffin, in a grave while his known killer is chillin!

Ignorance is running rampant in this country and it needs to be stopped. Assumptions, racial profiling, stereotyping... All of it is ignorance!  I didn't even know how many people in this country felt the way they feel about black people... Don't be fooled there are a lot! "Racism still alive they just be concealing It"... A famous line by Kanye West and I believe it more than ever today. Even right now with all of the tension in the country over the Trayvon Martin situation people still don't see the error in their ways. We are ALL people, we all bleed red blood and breath oxygen! God made us visibly different but not to tear us apart or to have dumbass racist use twitter to be passive aggressive. If you have an issue with black people don't hide behind your social network account...regardless of your issue, you are still wrong... WE ARE ALL CREATED EQUAL! A person with an ignorant perception can only see what they want! Maybe if some people's perception was different Trayvon Martin would still be alive. CHANGE! Live Love Learn!

The Reality of Reality TV

After having a conversation via twitter with one of my fav followers @MrsValUable about reality shows, I was sort of motivated to do a post. Now I will not sit here and try and perpetrate like I don't indulge in the reality show craze. I definitely make sure to catch my weekly dose of Real Housewives, Basketball Wives (aka Baby Mama's), Real World's, Love & Hip Hops, Bad Girls Clubs, etc... (I could go on.. I watch a lot of reality tv). I will agree a lot of these shows are dumb and majority of the cast members are nothing to praise, but its entertainment! As a college graduate with a B.S. in Marketing I understand fully how sex, drama, and crazy antics sell sell SELL, which is the number one reason why these reality shows have been taking over tv and doing so well!

Now there are 2 reality shows in particular that puzzle me, and honestly have puzzled me since they started..... 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom. From the very beginning when MTV introduced these shows I was giving them the *side-eye* because I couldn't understand for the life of me why would they want to further publicize the issue of teen pregnancy. The issue of teen pregnancy has become more urgent in these recent years, with the number of pregnant teenage girls skyrocketing and groups of friends in 10th grade making Pregnancy Pacts!

I have given the shows a chance and have been a follower of the seasons thus far, believing in the bigger picture that MTV is trying to display with these shows. I truly believe that the intention of these shows was to depict the hardships of dealing with teenage pregnancy to the masses of teenagers out there who need a good warning! However, I am also very sure that the show is not having the "impact" on the masses that was intended. When I go to my local grocery store and I see magazines with headlines such as: "Teen Mom star arrested for fighting", I am irritated. I'm not so much irritated that they have made negative headlines but more so that they are referred to as "Teen Mom star"... when the hell did these chicks become celebrities?? Can someone let me know when the hell having a baby in high school became glamorous ? Why the hell are these chicks even relevant to make a headline on any newspaper, magazine, blog, news feed, etc... And better yet why are these girls getting paid to do this?

The intent of these shows has definitely been forgotten.. Its evident by the still increasing teenage pregnancy rate! The young people who are now watching these shows are not at home thinking "man that girl is dumb" and "I will never be that stupid", they are relating with them. Teenage girls are watching these chicks that are not too much different from themselves being publicized and turned into celebrities for what SHOULD be a punishable! So is it so far fetched to think that they would be looking up to these girls and trying to capitalize in their own lives just how these "Teen Mom Stars" have?

And where the hell are their parents? Who the hell are these people? All the kids that are shown on these shows are ALLLLL MINORS!! MTV has to be getting parental consent from someone in order to exploit the naïve adolescents! I know my mother and there is no way in hell she would give parental consent to go on tv to embarrass myself, her and the rest of my family!! Do these parents not care or is it about the quick pay off? They get a nice lil check from the producers for the exploitation of their children's mistake on tv sets across America, that's sick!

Granted I know babies are not cheap, and any kind of. financial assistance would be great for these young parents but what about that young girl who is TRYING to get pregnant just so she can have her 15 minutes of fame? What about that baby? What is this society coming to when this is just socially acceptable and we all stand back and watch? Over 30 years ago it wasn't even socially acceptable for you to be pregnant out of wedlock, so why now is it ok for Babies to have Babies? Ignorance is running rampant in this country. LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE (and just because) LEARN!

Summing things Up... the end of the 1st Week of Feb.

My life has made a turn for the better yall. I am working on seriously getting my life together and actually witnessing the progress. I am so grateful and blessed to have wonderful people around me all the time. My job search is going well and I have made strides to making a very good career decision. I have had several interviews with a very promising outlook. I am working and striving everyday to get back on my feet and back into my own place as soon as possible. I look forward to the COME UP that is ahead of me.
My love life ... its the usual hot mess it always is. I'm finding myself in situations that ummmm maybe I should have thought twice about. However, everything in life is a learning decision and I have managed to learn oh so much from the hot mess people I allow to be in my life. Now I say allow only because... they give me something to be entertained by with the constant games that are played yet I am the Master of mastering the Games that are being played. Currently I don't want to build a relationship with anyone whom I feel I may have doubts in only cause I'm 22 and I have a mission that I need to succeed in. If a guy is not on the same page as me or not even trying to be in the first place we can't continue on.
But enough about relationships and love. I don't want to always be that boring chick that all she has to talk about is relationships and dumb men.. that gets soo old. So in lighter news GO SAINTS. I got to watch the Super Bowl yesterday and i was thoroughly ecstatic about the Saints taking down the Colts. I will be quick to say I am not a bandwagon chick I was cheering for the Saints the whole time, however, I do not have a favorite NFL team. I enjoyed watching the game and watching some of the commercials... My favorite commercial from the whole night was the Doritos commercial with the little boy whos' mom was going out on the date. The little boy slapped the man and told him "keep your hands off my mama and keep your hands off my Doritos" LMAO... the best commercial all night.
I wish I had something to say about halftime but I didn't watch it... I wasn't to interested in The Who and what they were singing. I will say this though about Super Bowl Halftime Shows... they have sucked ever since Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake performed... I think they need to have younger artist perform and no I'm not necessarily asking for the hot mess artist of my generation but maybe have like a plethora of different artist to appeal to all that watch the Super Bowl ... hell halftime is like 20 minutes.
Well enough of this I getting back on twitter... twitter has totally taken over my life... its very sad actually but I LOVE TWITTER... it is my way to instantly express how I feel at any given moment. I am an Twitterhead and proud of it...lol... Anyways LOVE, LIVE, LAUGH

Boredom: Jon and Kate fiasco, Graduation Celebrations, Chinese Imperial Dogs

I survived graduation and both my roommates family and my man's. It has been a good past 3 days and I have enjoyed the festivities. I am so ready for everything to get back to normal now in normal....lol. I am proud of all of my "friends" who graduated yesterday and wish them all the best. I was a little down that I couldn't share in the enjoyment because I didn't get that ceremony yesterday but I made it through without being to sad about the whole thing. I got over my irritation from the other day once I finished all of my finals and was able to party with everyone else. Good Times.

I am really bored right now trying to find something to get into. Today is my man's birthday and we spent the majority of the day together with his mother and sister, whom I enjoyed a lot. I am happy for everything he has done in the past two days. His fraternity brothers are throwing him a birthday party tonight. I pray for no mischief and safety. But I know that everything should be all well.

I have been on twitter and on the Internet just trying to keep myself busy. So I have been completely intrigued by the developing situation with Jon and Kate from the TLC show Jon & Kate Plus 8. So this is my theory on the situation. I feel like he very well could have been spending time with this other woman, but I don't believe that he had any sexual contact with that woman. I have read all the reports and seen all the pictures. I believe that the other woman and her brother are starving for a little 15 minutes of fame and trying to blow the whole situation out of proportion. You must be aware of your surroundings and the people you allow in your surroundings. And how do you cheat on someone you have 8 frikkin kids with, the idea is completely crazy to me.

Next, I have been online looking for the dog that I want to get. Yeah I know I have to find an apartment first but I just wanted to look at the different breeds and see which one's I like. I liked a lot of the little dogs I saw but it was one in particular that I really like, a Chinese Imperial Dog. It was the cutest thing I have seen since my childhood Yorkshire Terrier. It is a special breed and so it is kind of expensive but well worth the money... hint hint! lol.

Oh well done blogging for the night. Need to go figure out what to do with the rest of my night besides sit on this computer... Adios
